Learning Structure

The Excel Center is designed to follow the typical cadence of a school year.

However, as students are entering the program at various levels of development, they will not progress with a class cohort. Instead, they will complete missing credits sequentially until they have satisfied the demands of a New York State High School Diploma, equivalent to 22 units of credit.

New York State Diploma Requirements are accessible here (Diploma Requirements, but are summarized below. In addition, The Excel Center will offer remedial support in Math and ELA Foundations, in addition to SEL support, and Independent Studies. These courses will be non-credit bearing but will prepare those students who are not yet ready for the rigors of high school study.
